I've got about 3/16 inch overtravel when shooting DA.
The gun is DAO so SA won't come into play here.
I would really like to install a trigger stop through the trigger guard.
I would appreciate any advice you could offer.
Thanks
Michael

It's not pretty, but drill and tap a hole through the trigger guard and put in a machine screw. Mind you, Brownell's sells a trigger stop rod for $1.60.

Sunray, Joe, Thank you.
I'll try the rod in the rebound slide and see if I can figure out the correct length.

Rod in the Rebound slide

Leave the spring out,

put the rod in,

try action,

cut a little try action again,

when hammer falls right DA put the sping in,

try action.

Should feel good!

DA trigger pull

NVMM, the old school way to improve S&W trigger pull......

To start buy a new spring, put it aside, Now cut the original one quarter coil at a time until action no longer functions. Now take new spring cut it to a length, No shorter then that last 1/4 of a coil for the original spring ( some said a full coil, some said a 1/2, some said a 1/4) the resulting pull is as good as it can possibly get when litening this spring!

ALSO

Some S&W's have an eliptical block, if it is there,it right behind the trigger at the bottom of the frame, that is held in by a screw hidden under the side plate, it may take fabricating a new one out of flat stock if yours has it, but remaking one of these overly long and filing back until DA functions properly, will almost be invissable!

I was just looking at NUMRICH's online schematics, and parts list, some list the "trigger stop screw" part #87 in the exploded view, in the parts list quite a few do not!

Thanks again Big Al
I bought an assortment of Wolf springs and the lightest one works fine.
I have an old RCBS trigger pull gauge that goes to ? I think 4lbs. I'm not near it now. With a little extra pull the trigger starts to move, so it's pretty light.
I'm going to try the short length of rod inside the rebound slide and try your way of fitting it.
Thanks
Michael
