I Just inherited a 303 British infield Lee/Enfield MK 5 Jungle. and was wondering if i would be better off Upgrading it to Synthetic Stocks and putting a scope on it or Should i just spend 500$ and buy a whole new Rifle for long range work if the SHTF Gun

Is it a real Jungle Carbine, or a conversion?

If it's real, leave it alone. If a conversion, go right ahead and buy that stock.

It is a real one. but it has been in a attic since the late 1950's and the bolt does not move to smoothly

If you're going to do anything to the rifle, like scope it, stocks, whatnot, buy a new one. If you're cool with it "as is", keep the jungle carbine, and give it some TLC.

Just don't hack up the Enfield. If that's your intent, I'll buy it from you, depending on where you live and your asking price (PM me on that)--that way, you'll be able to get a rifle you can mess with without feeling bad, and you won't anger the milsurp gods.

To me, it should be fine "as is"--the thing fought wars, it should be fine for a SHTF gun, since it's already in the "been there, done that" category. But that's my opinion.

My main intent was to just have long range ability and "round out" my Long Gun armament
I have
Bushmaster M4 16" - EO-Tech
PLR - 16 With Flashlight and DOC sight
Both use ar mags
and was looking on getting a Savage with a Scope - i want to streamline it to only 2 calibers in long guns.
thanks for the advice
