Aesthetics: The GLOCK or the XD?

in the same sentence displays either:

A total lack of understanding of the meaning of the word, or:

A really warped sense of humor.

Glock is to aesthetics as integrity is to politician.

XD is to aesthetics as accurate is to mainstream media.

The term "ugly as a bag of smashed a**holes" applies to both.

Nobody I know buys either for it's looks.

And yes, I own a Glock, and my GF has an XD...

If, for whatever reason, I buy one of those, please remind me to never have it on my workshop bench, lest I pick it up, thinking it's my Ryobi cordless power drill, and end up blowing a hole through my latest woodworking project.

The XD looks aggressive to me, mean, dangerous: I like that.

I've never liked Glock aesthetics, Glocks look like a piece of a larger machine that was also made by a machine, impersonal, soulless. Never meant to be used by humans.

Slight edge to the XD on "good" looks. If it's a sub-compact XD though, that advantage disappears quicker than a set of rims at a Puff Daddy concert.

The first time I saw an XD, I decided that it was so ugly, that I wouldn't own one even if it was the best gun in the world. I haven't changed my mind since. BTW, I am a Glock owner and consider them to be not quite as ugly as the XD. My beauties are; 1911, BHP, Blackhawk, even my Super Redhawk.

I have Glocks and an XD. I did not buy the pistols for their good looks. I bought them to function and to serve me well. That they do. I think that they are butt ugly, but also look all business. The bi-tone XD's may look a little better to me, but there are plenty of pretty pistols that would fit the bill better.

In my book the new desert pattern camoed Glocks win the "Least ugly" award of the stock offerings. A balance between the "too boring" of the normal Glocks and the "too busy" of the XD.

Although I like how the Gun-Kote job turned out on my old 24P and I've seen some almost beutiful custom Glocks.

I own some really nice looking firearms, and I'm damn proud of all of them. But if I were to knowingly go forth into a serious confrontation I would take either a Glock or an XD or a Model 28 Highway Patrolman or a Mossberg 590 and not give a crap about whether one looks better than something else... This topic is just silly.

And my XM15 E2S isn't pretty either, but it does the job with extreme precision; and therin lies its beauty.

I like the XD better ever so slightly... They both look alot better in bi-tone though. I'm going to have to find someone to weld over the front cocking serations (GAH!) and hardcrhrome my next XD though.
