I'll be getting my AR soon (just waiting on the funds, which are on the way but not quite here), and knowing that both the normal handguard and a VFG are both a little bit uncomfortable for me, I went ahead and got both a Magpul AFG and a UTG 5-position foregrip. If I used the later, I'd have it at 45 degrees. I know "why'd you buy both before-hand?" Well, they were each ~$20, so I figure it's not that big of an expense to have the option to try both.

For those who have tried both (or just tried one and absolutely love it), which would you go with?

I'd think that the lighter, more solid, made in the USA Magpul product would be the obvious choice, but if you shoot better with the Chinese stuff, I guess not?

I'm reasonably certain most of it is Chinese airsoft knockoffs. Even the Magpul stuff. Actually, especially the Magpul stuff.

Take a gander at this: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ctr-butt-stock-black-103054

It's a very good quality copy, Virtually indistinguishable. They even copied the CAGE code.

When a company contracts with a Chinese manufacturer for X amount of units the Chinese are going to produce X, but it's not as if the factories just stop the presses all the sudden and that's that. No, they continue to make Y amount of units and flood the market with cheap copies.

ahh good old deal extreme, ive bought an amazing amount of decent stuff from there. Ive also gotten my fair share of crap LOL. I havent messed with much of the gun related stuff besides a red dot (that is great), and a scope that was for an airsoft "sniper" rifle i modded for a friend.

Currently the vote is 100% on one side of the fence, wow.

Fu-man, I fail to see the connection between that stock and my choice of which foregrip to put on my rifle.

Unless you whittle your own Magpul foregrip out of hickory while sitting on your front porch, it's likely to be a cheap "chicom airsoft" knockoff. I'm suspect of all Magpul goods for this reason. They sold out to the Chinese to go big, and the stock and the site I linked to are the fruits of their labor.

That's funny. The boxes my stock set came in say 'Designed in Colorado, Made in the USA'.

Maybe you're been buying chimom knock-offs.

Briansmithwins,

I think "Made in the USA" was referring to the cardboard box your stock set came in. :)
