I just got a hot deal on a Weatherby Vanguard in .30-06 (synthetic stock, blued barrel/action) at Wal Mart. In case nobody knows, Wal Mart has marked down their Vanguards nationwide to $250.

Some people talk smack about the Vanguard. My friend shoots his (.300 Wby Mag) at deer from 300+ yards and always bags plenty every year. His Vanguard is his beanfield rifle.

To make a long story short.......

I don't like the stock that the Vanguard comes with. I figure I'm getting an AWESOME deal on the rifle so I can afford a decent aftermarket stock. Does anyone like Bell & Carlson make a nice aftermarket stock for the Weatherby Vanguard? This is my first rifle in .30-06 and have been craving one in that chambering for a very long time. I want it to be "just right". I might even buy a Timney trigger for it if I don't like the trigger when I take it to the range.Does anyone like Bell & Carlson make a nice aftermarket stock for the Weatherby Vanguard?

A McMillan fiberglass stock would be a nice touch to that rifle. T'aint cheap though.

Here is the link.

Enjoy.

I'd of thought Bell and Carlson would make one...

IMHO, the best bang for the buck is the HS Precision stock. No need to glass bed. :)

Bell and Carlson does make one. You have to download their catalog from their sight, and it will have it listed under their Medalist or...i forget the other one.

I got one of those Vanguards as well in 7mm Rem mag! I heard the Savage 110s in various calibers were on sale an hour south of me!

Wal Mart has drastically reduced the Vanguards. They also have Savage Scope Combos reduced to $250 as well. It's wal-mart's policy not to put firearms on clearance so they just reduce them to clearance prices instead of officially calling them "clearance items". Wal Mart doesn't let you put clearance items on layaway. This is nice because I was able to put the Weatherby on layaway at a clearance price!

I can't, for some reason, find Bell & Carlson's website. Can anyone help me?
