The name "sodbuster" is a trademarked name belonging to Case. It has become a generic name for this pattern of folder but AG decided not to use a trademarked name and called this knife his Cowboy Pocketknife. He makes a Jr version as well called the Rancher. The sizes do correspond closely to the Case soddies but the AG version is much flatter measuring 7/16ths of an inch thin. This result is a knife that sits very flat in the back pocket or in a belt pouch. It is wider than the Case and feels very nice in the hand. For me I choose scale of yellow delrin but ebony Rucarta (AG's version of micarta). I like being able to spot the yellow when I drop it in the leaves.

The blade is a bit wider as well and is made from 8Cr13MoV. It is a longer tip than on the Case with more of a point, I think the finer point will be useful. Fit and finish is great, about what i would expect for a knife from AG, it walks and talks with authority but is not a nailbreaker. I am very happy with it and at a price of $29.95 I feel it is a bargain to boot.

This knife fits very snugly in my small DM Bullard belt sheath, the lanyard helps pulling it out. I hit the blade on my razor strop and it is absolutely hair popping sharp. It parts paracord with not much more than the weight of the knife. I plan to carry this for the next few days and see how the edge does but considering the steel i expect it to hold up very well just as my other blades made from the same steel do.
