I have a Smith and Wesson .38 special 2 inch barrel . It is marked with a w7 and the butt plate number is s 934 any ideas about how old it is?

The serial is on the butt. A letter S prefix would be from 1946-1948. However, the number provided appears incomplete. Three more digits could be correct.
