Just last week i was at the range and bought three boxes of 180 grain full metal jacket .40 caliber ammunition. It was the cheapest stuff there but wow did it numb my hand. It must be loaded very hot because by the time i was done with all 150 rounds my hand hurt and the web between my thumb and forefinger hurt like you wouldnt believe. Nothing else that i have shot through my Glock 22 was like this. Anybody know anything about this ammunition?

Aquila is Mexican, I think. It means "eagle." I have shot .22 rimfire with no problem at all, but haven't seen any centerfire ammo in that brand. I should think it would be OKAY.

Aquila does means "eagle" in Spanish, and it is a Mexican ammunition company, although I think Remington now owns them. Their normal ammo is cheap and OK, although a search here at THR will revel some criticism of some sort of uber-tactical hand-gun ammunition they sell (supposable penetrates in hard targets and expands/fractures in soft targets.) I like their mini shot-gun shells that no one else makes, although not everyone does.

their 22 ammo rocks. by some coincidence, i saw someone with a box of aguila .40 ammo today at the range and mentioned to the guy that i'd never seen any centerfire ammo from aguila before. was news to me.

I've been shooting their .32 S&W Long ammo out of my handgun with no problems - a good buy at a little over $8 a box of 50 to my door.

I did a review on the Aguila IQ, "uber-tactial ammo". It turned out to be as effective as a RN, IF that. It just does not do what they say. This ammo has an Extra Large HP opening and is heavily Scored, but just does not break apart like it shoud

Word from the company when i sent them a copy of the review was that they are no longer making this ammo. Its an Intelligent Ammo as they call it, The round is all alluminum, but there are much better rounds out there that i will trust my life with, Stuff i KNOW will work

there is two versions of Aguila, mexican made, and Aguila , also called golden Eagle, american made. i love it, it is the 22 ammo that i am talking about. so I dont know the specs on the centerfire stuff, but the 22 stuff is made with Eley specs, eley parts, eley primers, and I think Eley machinery and computer specs, and even ingredients level. Yes they do also load some of their 22 stuff very hot, their hyper velocity 22 round is faster than any 22 round, that includes stingers or quickshoks.

I used to shoot a lot of .30 Carbine and .45ACP Aguila ammo. I had no problems with it.

It didnt malfunction it just seemed to be loaded hot for a fmj bullet which are usually just used for target shooting.

I have shot many bricks of Aguila .22 ammo and found it to be pretty good stuff. Not match grade, but better than most bulk pack and worth the extra couple of bucks.

The 60 gr. SSS {Super Sub Sonic} is great for garden varmits at 4;00 am and you dont want to wake up the neighbors:)
