I talked to the tristar people today, and they quoted me a price of 575 per rifle if i can get 20 rifles sold for the basic number4mk4 .308 rifle (which is externally equivalent to a number4mk2)

these rifles are slated to arrive in country in june or july of this year, and feature a chrome lined 24 inch barrel, savage style headspacing, detachable 10 round magazines. (same magazines as the m-14/m-1a), and some parts interchangeability with the number4mk1.

I already have four rifles spoken for.

Who's in?

this is only a thread about the group buy, not about discussing the merits of the rifle.

So the cut for a group buy is about 125 bucks or so under MSRP..doesnt sound like that good a deal to me.

Don't be mad. That's a problem with most rifles that have an optic, unless the scope is forward mounted (scout scope), rear mounted (like on the Nagant Sniper), or offset to the left (like the M1D...hate this, 'cause I"m left handed and then I can't use the scope).

The magazines on these rifles were clearly designed to be easily detached, though. Stripper clip feeding is unnecessary.

Andrew - if you could make the magic 20 it does not sound bad at all .... I will ask that you add me in as down for one ... and hope the 20 might be reached.

To add ... if things get to look promising enough .. I'll happily send something to you to show good faith.

None of the rifles have stripper clip guides, the theory being that you change magazines when you need to load more than one round at a time. putting 10 or 20 rounds in a gun at a go is faster, in my opinion than stripper clips.
