Hello folks,
I'm currently talking to a friend from the range about buying one of his AIM surplus rifles. It looks to be authentic, but I can't tell for sure cause i'm no milsurp expert. Does AIM surplus have real surplus guns or are they chinese repro's like the ones from century? Thanks, happy shooting.

*edit*
The rifle is a .308 enfield. He calls it an ishapore enfield 2a. Thanks for the quick pointer.

My Mosin is a Century. In no way is it a reproduction. I used to sell a handful of Century Arms rifles and they weren't reproductions. You might want to do your research first and give us more information.

well i can say ive made multiple orders through AIM Surplus and im happy. sometimes it takes them a few days to get an order processed/shipped, but they are straight forward.

AIM is great. Read the descriptions carefully before buying- they will tell you exactly what you are getting.

I Like aim a lot! I trust them, I think aim sells century mosins if thats what your asking. I dont believe they import them, they just buy them from century. My mosin is imported by century, all matching numbers.

Ishapores are indian made enfields. These were built on the same machinery the lee enfields were, so don't think they are crappy repros. If your buying surplus items from Aimsurplus then they are just imported rifles. Most of what century arms sells are also just imported by them.

Unless it says Norinco then its not reproduction, and even then repro guns from norinco can actually be pretty good.

AIM is good to go. I've bought a few mil-surps from them.

Most military surplus rifles are "reproductions" to some degree, unless it was built in the country of origin, at the original plant. Most Com-Bloc countries shared tooling so it really doesn't matter where it was built. The SKS and AK were originally Russian guns, but most examples of these rilfes were built in other countries, and were still fine examples.

The Ishpore Enfield 2A1 is a nice piece of history, and can be fired with NATO 7.62x51 or low pressure .308 ammunition.(like Remington's "Reduced Recoil"). I have one and it is a big, burly gun, but fun to shoot.

There would be no incentive for anyone to make repros of military surplus rifles. There are millions of the originals on the market already. Perhaps you misunderstood the word refurbs for repros?

Not only that, but you can't import anything from China with a rifled barrel. Well, unless airsoft guns have rifled barrels.

Anyway, AIM Surplus is a great business.

Yep, Ishapores are decent rifles. I have a No1MKIII grenade launching rifle, which is roughly the same rifle as the 2A1 but in .303. It shoots great and is well made.

I've only ever ad incredible service from AIM. they are a straight up, aboveboard company. They offer great ORIGINAL products, at a very very good price. Shipping has always been fast, and customer service is top notch. They get an A+ from me.

Aim sold a lot of the 2A and 2A1 Ishapore (Indian) Enfields as "Shooter Grade" for $99 a couple years ago. They were well used rifles but good shape, I wish I had been able to get one for that price...I tried to get to AIM twice but both times I didn't make it there.

As far as Century goes, Century is an importer- they buy and import to the US bulk lots of surplus rifles, ammo and gear, then sell them to dealers like AIM to resell. As far as Century's "Copies" of rifles, they aren't copies, they are rifles built in Romania (for example) then imported legally to the US and modified to a more military style appearance. The same goes for most Century FAL and CETME rifles- they were bought as demilled surplus parts kits and rebuilt using US parts to be legal. Hardly a fake, but not a "100% original" rifle, either.

Another +1 on Aim. By the way, Mosin Nagant rifles were manufactured outside of the former USSR, as well. The Chinese MN rifles are just as authentic.
