While working a booth at the Air Show we had here over the weekend, I spoke with the Security Forces folks. In addition to thier regular guns (They have a few Uzis, some Remington 870's, Barrets, and M2 .50 Calibers) I noticed a sparkling new M240G mounted on a Tripod! When I spoke with the CATM guys, they said that they had just started to receive these. Looks like they are FINALLY going to replace their M60's. I was greatly impressed with the workmanship on the M240G, however I had a quick question for any gunners out there...

When the barrel gets hot and you go to change it, don't you burn your finger pulling up on that release? I might have it wrong, but I'd think this part of the gun would get hot as well?

I've never burned my hand on the barrel release, but I only have a few thousand rounds as a-gunner under my belt. In fact, I've never even heard of someone burning their hand on the release and I'm pretty sure I would've heard the machine gunners ragging on someone for doing so.
