airport terminals

Most, if not all the airports, in Oklahoma, Texas, and Indiana are owned and operated by trusts set up by the city or county. There are no federal laws restricting firearms at airports unless you are inside the secured area, which would include runways. On Sept 1 this year, all of the airports in Texas that had 30.06 signs posted were required to take them down thereby allowing CC inside the terminal.

....WORTH CONSIDERING...

It seems to make sense that CCW carry would be allowed in the common areas under the State law umbrella that certainly applies in most cases outside the TSA "Forbidden Zone".

However, it's worth considering the following. You are carrying legally with appropirate CCW documentation, not dressed in a law enforcement uniform and in the event of an "incident" you are mistaken for a Bad Guy when you respond with your sidearm.

To quote an Admiral who spoke wisdom to me at sea one night when I was a young Lieutenant Junior Grade "It is sometimes Easier to Get Forgiveness Than It is Permission". The problem in such a situation is that people would be panicking around you & security personnel responding to the situation would PROBABLY assume you are one of the Expendable Bad Guys who needs to go DOWN.

Not complelely out of the realm of possibility these days (in Orange Alert status) when LEOs both uniformed & not are roaming around looking to take out anyone with a gun who is not one of them.

Any thoughts?

Mike, I think that you are thinking liking an anti-gun person, no offense intended.

As in "why do you need a gun in the [airport/Walmart/concert/etc]?"

Most likely you don't, but you might need it going to and from those locations, either in your car or on foot. And leaving a gun in a vehicle is not usually a good idea, either.

Like up here, it might be 50 or 100 or 200 miles just to get to the airport from where you live.

So the need (or lack of need) to use a gun in an airport is irrelevant.

Heck, given the state of Homeland Security, I think it is illegal to think the two words Airport and Gun in the same thought.

I carry at MCO in Orlando almost daily. The only prohibition is against carrying in the "sterile area". If you engage someone who's job it is to find and stop firearms from going through their checkpoint you are screwed at that point. The secured zones are easily identified, they are the areas with readily identifyable security personnel with readily identifiable detection equipment. STAY AWAY FROM THEM
