have a Norinco Ak that I want to take the thread protector off and installed a flash suppresor. There appears to be a pin sticking out of the front sight and the schematic I looked at said it is spring loaded however when I try to push it in it doesn't move. I'm gonna soak in in oil tonight and try again but I was wondering if I have to remove the front sight pin for it to move?

it looks like that pin could in hitting the one that holds the protector on.

On my NHM-91 there was no spring and pin will not move, it has no grove to move in like a stock AK. So you have to drift out the front pin on the FSB and remove and replace it with a new pin with the proper grove and spring

There should be a spring behind the pin. Some importers replaces the normal spring loaded pin with a long pin to keep people from removing the muzzle nut.

If that's the case you'll have to drift out the FSB pins and replace the long pin with the normal sized pin and spring. Fortunately, those are cheap and easy parts to find.
