AK 47 Zastava ZPap vs OPap & NPap

Howdy gents
I just saw newly imported Zastava Z Pap AK 47.
Seems to come both in a classic wood form, and a more modern synthetic stock version.

I have had many Kalashnikov style rifles and found the Zastava O pap and M70 ab2 to be fantastic AK type rifles.

Not a big fan of the N pap
Don't know much about the Z Pap
But I am thrilled to see Zastava yugos being imported again and so letter fairly reasonable price plus or minus 750 brand new.
Does anyone have one or have heard much about the ZPAP?
Anybody knew if any m70 ab2 Or o paps are going to be imported?
 
So the N and the O paps were imported and assembled here by a third party. Century Arms I think. Now they have opened up Zastava USA so that they can control the build process from start to finish. According to Zastava the quality control on the Z Pap is much higher than the N or Os. The guns coming out of the factory in Serbia should not be that different. It is the work done on them once they are imported and being readied for the US market. I have not seen much negative about the Z Pap in reviews.
 
I hear those at the zpap does not have the 1.5 extra rugged trunnion that the opapp does I'm a big fan of the opapp.

Does Anyone have any experience with the Z Pap or information about weather o Paps or m70 ab2 will be available again or imported again? I haven't seen anything recently from Zastava except a zpap in an AK platform.
 
I believe that it is the receivers on the O Pap and the Gen 1 N Pap that were 1.5mm. The Gen 2 N Pap and the Z Pap have 1mm receivers.

The O Pap and the N Pap are not being imported anymore.
 
The reviews I have seen of the Zpap seem favorable. Zastava is easily one of the better ak factory's.

They pretty much Npaps, with more serbian parts. IMO, that makes it better than a NPAP. The OPAP and original M70s will probably not be imported, and if they do, it would as parts kits.
 
If you dont want a zpap, WASR a good second option. Some people also seem to have luck with PSA AKs; but make sure it's a G3 model.

You might also find a used Mak for that price.

Zastava twice as good, so I hope this brunowbe mentioned pans out.
But if they don't come before the election we won't be able to buy them anymore:thumbdown:
 
according to one firearms instructor cited in a major article on ak47's the m70 ab2 was the best AK available.

I really do like the m70 ab2 I have one that has ended up currently as my last AK, everything else including my Saiga 7.62 x39
Has been sold or traded along the way.
I do agree and love and we'll never get rid of my 16 inch Saiga 308.
I would put the o Pap right up there with the m70ab 2

Does anybody actually have experience with the zpap?
 
I bought an M85PV and M92PV, SBR'd them and have been very happy with both, I suppose you could put a brace or Tail-Hook it you can't or don't want to go the SBR route.

The receiver end is hardened it was very tough to drill through which is what I did for the M85 (top) as I wanted this stock.

On the M92, I had looked at a couple different stocks besides the Triangle, a VZ-58 as well as several AR type stocks, they were the first to be eliminated ...

What I did to "try" them without drilling the receiver is I had a brace and I took the receiver tube out. I had also had an Ace "pig nose" which is already drilled & tapped for the triangle stock and it screwed it into the brace adapter.
Then I got a receiver plug from Spikes which also screws into the brace adapter, I drilled and tapped it for the VZ-58 stock so I could actually shoot it to see if I liked it.
So far, its been about 5 years, I like them both and I still haven't made up my mind which to mount permanently.

This is the VZ58 stock just sitting up against the receiver, and its why I had to make an adapter to try it, unfortunately this is the only pic I have with the VZ-58 stock, but if you've ever shot a VZ-58 you know how comfortable it is.

Can anyone please determine whether there is in fact another Zastava coming out that will have the 1.5 millimeter trunnion?
Us something someone put on this thread they had a link with a bunch of March and communists, and everything looked great when I went to that site it mentioned even a chrome-lined Barrel I think and specifically mention the 1.5 MMR trunnionsand they were described as being differentiated by being zpap M70s
BUT
As I look at the Current zpap adds more closely they do call themselves The Z Pap M70.
So I don't know whether to buy one today or wait.
So I'll probably do both and buy both:evil:
If the other version ever materializes
