Ak and Saiga hand guard question

Can the front grip from a saiga fit onto an AK? What are the differences and could one be modified to fit?

Reason for the question is that a saiga hand guard with picatinny rails is about 25% the cost of an AK one, for some reason

Won't fit without more work than the savings are worth.

The AK would definitely be missing the front lateral pin that holds the front of the Saiga handuard, and the rear mounting of the handguard might also be different sized, but maybe not. I think it could work but you might have to be creative to get it to work.

I think you would also need a saiga gas tube, or at least one without the wood so that the siaga handguard would fit.
