So I read on another forum that aks have a free floating bolt, and that if one cycles a round through it the bolt will leave a mark on the primer. Is this that much of a problem? Is there anyway to modify an ak to make it non-free floating. I don't know much about aks so pardon the ignorance...

You're referring to the free floating 'firing pin'.

It is not a problem as long as you use european ammunition. The majority of this is made with insensitive military primers.

Some US made commercial ammunition does not use military primers and these can be set off in some rare cases by free floating firing pins.

The AR-15 as well as the M1A/M14 also have free floating firing pins that will leave the same mark. It's the way they were disigned and are not a big deal to worry about.
