Ok, AKs are not my specialty so I need some info. A co-worker has offered to sell my his AK before he tries to sell it to anyone else. It's a single stack SA 2000, made by FEG of Hungary. It's used, VGC condition w/ ammo and 2 mags. Asking price is $250. Is this a good price? Can this rifle be modified to accept stanard mags, and, if so, how difficult is it? Thanks.

That would be a good buy. It can be modified if you are reasonably mechanically adept. You would probably need to buy a new trigger guard and selector stop. It is definately doable. The Hungarian is a nice AK.

I would look around for a double stack AK and compare prices, I was just at a gun show here in Richmond Va and a lot of double stack Romanian AKs were selling for $350-$400. It would probably be worth the extra money if you really want to use double stack mags in your AK (who doesn't?). I own one of these Romanian guns, not as nice as some, but it doesn't malfunction and it's lots of fun !!
