I am in need of a solid, good quality folding stock for a Romanian stamped rec. AK. It doesnt have to also be collapsible, but I do not want any play or wobble when its extended. Also it should provide a decent cheek weld. I know you guys know your AKs, whats my best bet?

Bought mine from DPH Arms. It didn't come with the rubber pad, though. If that is important to you, you should try Centerfire.

Cheek weld is lower than the wooden stock. However, it does give you more room for wearing hearing protection.

I like the Romanian folder on my Romanian AK (SAR1). It's very solid with no play folded or extended. It does not have a good cheek weld though, although probably better than an underfolder on all counts. This stock from K-var is better as far as cheek weld, but a LOT more expensive.

I've been looking at the Ace folders - they seem to potentially offer the best cheeckweld. But again, perfection comes at a price...

ACE folders are what I'm looking at as well.. Have a tapco at the moment, but after 180 rounds it's kinda wobbley.

The Romanian wire sidefolders are quite solid.

And lock up nicely both in the closed and open positions. There are two types of lock releases for them, one is a pushbutton and the other a lever. It appears the lever is the easier to operate. My SAR-1 has a pushbutton version:

Cool. I'd never seen a good pic of the pushbutton lock before. Mine has the lever. I think I'd definitely like the lever better. You just grab the bar and thumb the lever.

Isn't the pushbutton actually the E. German version? I read somewhere they sold a bunch to the Romanians who then went to the lever later.
