Hello Everyone,

How interchangable are the various components of the AK pattern rifles made in Russia and the various countries of Eastern Europe?

I'm particularly interested in the forend and stock sets.

Thanks for the input.

I'm a Newbie!

I'm afraid I am new at AKs, but I can tell you I would like a model that works with the new NATO length fixed polymer buttstock and the Surefire picatinny forend.

Does this help?

I thought you were talking about OEM furniture.. That US made stuff will probably fit your average Romanian, or others. It's possible there may be some fitting involved.

Most furniture should be interchangeable between stamped AKs from various countries, or between milled AKs. Guns with stamped receivers take different butt stocks than milled guns.

There are some "slant cut" MAK-90 Chicom AKs imported into the US which require special butts if you're going to convert them from a thumbhole to a regular stock.

Yuogslav stamped rifles have thicker receivers than other countries' stamped AKs, so stocks and forearms are not interchangeable without some fitting, AFAIK.
