I recently purchased a Krinkov style AK brake I have 2 questions about.

1. The brake has no detent for the AKs spring loaded retaining pin. How do I index the brake? Will a crushwasher from an AR-10 work perhaps? Is loctite needed? I have no idea.

2. There are 2 gas holes in the sides of the brake about 120 degrees apart. Do these face down, or up when installed correctly?

Thanks!

There should be some slots in the cone.

These should be at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock with the holes toward the top.

If this is threaded 14x1LH, you may not have these slots.

It was a left hand thread, fit on easily but there are no notches. How do I index it without them?

As I recall, a proper "krinkov" muzzle break has no definitive up or down, since all it is is an expansion chamber to provide sufficient back-pressure to operate the AKSU op-rod. It does not confer any recoil reduction or barrel stabilization a-la the '74 break. So all I can say is tighten it till its plenty tight, blue loctite may not be a bad idea either if your fairly rough with it.

There are three (3) distinctly different units out there. I cannot tell which one you actually have. Post photo.

Loctite Blue is correct on all, torque to 30 foot pounds on two of them.
