AK muzzle brake install

I want to put a muzzle brake on my AK, but it doesn't have the retaining plunger on the front sight post. Could I use some kind of heat resistant Locktite type material or am I just kind of screwed? It's a SAR-1 if that helps any.

I just used some red loc-tite on my Vepr (no front sight block/post). Works fine.

YOu have a front sight so I'd also recommend you have some sort of crush washer against it in addition to the loc-tite. Or in place of the loc-tite.

Dinzag, and other similar vendors, sell crush washers for just such a purpose as yours. The crush washer is popular with AR15 assemblers for muzzle devices, and has been used for many AK muzzle attachments as well. The crush washer is supposed to be single use, so be sure to buy a couple if you plan to remove the brake for cleaning at any point.

SAR-1 s came unthreaded. Did you thread it?

Ditto the crush washer recommendation. That's by far the best way to go.

Don't bother with Loctite unless you just want to cause yourself headaches.
