AK or AR

Best rifle for 100-200 yards without overpenatration and plenty of knockdown power, yet reliable and accurate. Which one?

My advice is to get the one which fits your budget and your interestes best. Any well made AK or AR will do well at 100-200 yards.

I have an ar-15 lower kit, but i am just looking for some opinions and why. I have had an sks, but that has been my only military rifle. I want something for cqb and for home protection, target practice, and occational hunting. Just needing some input.

Use of the search function will provide days of reading. It will boil down to a matter of personal preference. Both the AK and AR in proper form will serve you well.

Since you already have the lower, there's no reason not to go ahead and get an appropriate upper. If for some reason you find the AR doesn't suit you, you can always trade towards an AK.
