Hey guys i went to a fairly large gun shop today and noticed that AK prices have seemed to be getting a little higher. Also i checked the internet and it seemed true there too. Well scence im beggining a gun collection (and im quite an AK nut:cool: ) this scared me. Prices especially seemed higher on stuff like RPKs and PSLs (guns i want later). And i've heard that AK's cant be here forever because thers only so much in eastern europen warehouses. So what is the future of these guns are they drying up or is more on the way?

With PSLs I know that several were imported last summer, since then I'm not sure.

There is an absurd amount of AKs, they're not drying up, just shipments can't keep up with demand. One way to save money is to build your own, I've been looking into it, equipment is around 1k but you can built an absurd amount, then sell the equipment off to recoup some investment.

Dreamcast270mhz i too have thought of building AKs but sometimes it seems a bit hard even though i know the AK system well and i dont know where i could put the equementment to build them. Also i wouldnt know where to begin buying the stuff to make them.

Just some advice. ATlantic firearms has the best prices for AKs I've seen, a Saiga at 389 last I checked. Arsenals are all the rage and the nicest, but they can stab your wallet.

Building an AK takes only a little more room than say handloading. The press is probably the largest piece, you need at least a 12-ton if not 20, not to mention parts kits. For some it isn't the best solution, to others it is.

yea i might build AKs later. i have looked at atlantic they do have great prices ive been looking at alot lately Saiga 12, Yugo m72 RPK, PSL (FPK), Ruger 1911 and the Interarms IAC ak47 wood. So much guns so little money:uhoh:

AKs arent going to "dry up". Most common firearm on the planet.

Nearly all of the AKs imported into the US are made specifically for the US market.

The dollar is weaker than it once was.

ghosty dan, since you mentioned you want too start an ak collection, i would highly consider aks that we will never ever see on our shores no more, which is the chinese variants the pre-ban models, but you also have the post ban which is cheaper no bayonet lug, thumbhole stock etc.. as for the rpk and psl you mentioned i have both plus a mini-draco all form the cugir factory, these are the ones to get, good luck finding a psl though from cugir. little hint jg sales has the romanian rpk aes-10b if i were you pick one up before they dry up, did some research you get allot of gun for the money

ifit i have looked at the aes 10b and heard the yugo m72 was in general more solid. And the AES 10b looks somewhat like a WASR 10 is it WASR quality????

Unless the dollar skyrockets in value stacked against say the Pound or Euro, I'd say no. PSLs are at a disadvantage, because so many are branded as dragunovs and a gun shop will ask a dragunov price.

Well I havent seen them command that much, but there was a PSL w/ POSP at a shop in Richmond I saw that the owner wanted 1100 and not a penny less. I asked him, as politely as I could: "Do you really think that is a real SVD Dragunov" he said "its a Romanian Dragunov"

I had my Droid with me and showed him that it wasn't really a Dragunov. I then told him: "Its kind of an inordinate price for a rifle in its condition."

And they used to be 700 with scope, now its same price without a scope, plus the ones they sell separately have no tritium.

AK prices are thru the roof. If I was to go into the market for one today I think I'd just bite the bullet and go for a Arsenal. The other alternative would be to simply purchase a Saiga and leave it as it comes from the box. It is simply a single action AK with a different appearance.

ghostlydan, cant really say which one is more solid both are built with same purpose in mind both are built like a tank to shoot the 7.62x39 as a squad automatic rifle. was thinkin of gettin the yugo last year from jg sales, did some research and found out that it was built by century arms using the nds rpk receiver(nothing wrong at all with this) and heard the barrels are from green mountain(none chrome lined), but i am sure these are solid guns. you cant compare these to the regualr wasrs, these are more solid well put together firearm. my aes-10b, is made at the cugir factory including their chorme lined barrel, receiver ser.# match the bolt/bolt carrier/dust cover/recoil spring/top hg cover, a plus for me. and my trunion has stamped "1989" got some help on this, and told me that 1989 is the year of manufacture of the trunion, parts were assembled as a select fire weapon in 1989, then recently dissasembled and rebuilt on to a semi-auto receiver for sale to the u.s.

thanks ifit i did some looking on both and there both great guns but the AES 10 is a wasr with a longer barrel but an AES 10b is a RPK.

aka108 if i was getting an AK47 i think i would get the IAC wood from atlantic firearms i already have an amazing AK74 its an Koraynovich arms Bulgarian it is just sharp. i am kinda picky when it comes to AK47s. i dont like the 74 gas block on a 47. if its an AK47 i want it to be as close to an AKM as possable. thats just me

All AKs are single action, actually pretty much all rifles are single action. What are you talking about?
