What are the major differences and advatages and disadvatages in the AK47 milled receivers vs. stamped receivers. Say both from a quality manufaturer such as Arsenal inc. Which one is more durable, accurate, reliable, etc.. Pluses and cons. Thanks.

Milled will always be stronger than stamped. For the average person you could shoot hundreds of rounds a week and never notice the difference. However many good weapons are made with stamped receivers. Cost is the big factor. If you can afford it go milled, but I would not feel underguned with either

As all the parts, barrel, bolt, bolt carrier,etc....are interchangable between the milled and stamped reciever rifles. The durability, accuracy, and reliability are the same with both types of receivers.
It all boils down to personal preference as the only real difference is the extra pound the milled receiver rifle weighs.

I really prefer the milled receiver rifles, but any of the top end AK rifles are OK.

The milled receiver is more rigid, allowing greater accuracy, and not held together by rivets, allowing the receiver to outlast the barrel.

I always heard that the milled is better for a more accurate AK...where the stamped reciever is better for the FA crowd...they have a tendecy to be more flexible in the FA heating and cooling....Milled recievers don't like that...allegedly. Of course...I might have been fed a large amount of fecal matter on being told this....so pardon me now as I don't have my asbestos undies on. :uhoh:

As i've said in other threads, keep in mind the AKs reputation for reliability was largely gained be the stamped versions. Milled russian AKs were only made for around 8 years.

I personally prefer stamped, due to less weight.

However, one benefit of increased weight is less felt recoil.

It all comes down to personal preference, as others have said.

Having shot stamped Chinese, Russian, Romanian AKs, and a milled Bulgarian AK, I find the weight difference to be minimal, but the difference in feel when firing remarkable. The milled Bulgie feels a lot more solid when you're shooting it.
