Alabama Car Carry

I was ready about the new Alabama gun laws that when into affect in 2013. My understanding is that with an AL carry permit a person can carry a gun anywhere in their car, visible or hidden, locked up or not locked up, loaded or unloaded, correct?

That has always been
the law. The new law allows a person WITHOUT a permit to transport an unloaded handgun in their vehicle(not previously allowed without a permit).
