While browsing the web tonight I was looking into upcoming shot show guns. Came across one that really interested me. A Czech manufacturer called Alfa Proj is supposed to be introducing their product to the American market this year targeting the mid range prices. Seems like a nice revolver , anyone ever see one before or hear anything about them?

Here's the quote from American rifleman and a pic:

Alfa Proj Double-Action Revolvers
Although semi-automatic pistols can be found at just about every price point, double-action revolvers tend to be priced at either end of the spectrum. There are the more costly models at one end (Colt, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Kimber) and the budget-price options at the other (Rossi,Taurus, Charter Arms, Armscor). Recognizing the need for quality mid-price options, Blue Line Solutions will be bringing the Alfa Proj brand of revolvers to the U.S. Market.

Established in 1993, this Czechoslovakian manufacturer's extensive line-up of mid-size, six-shot double-action revolvers has gained popularity in Europe and Canada. These handguns offer a step up in quality, compared to some budget models, with prices range from $300 to $600, depending on model. Alfa Proj makes alloy frames, blued carbon-steel or stainless models in concealed-carry, sporting and target-shooting configurations. Features include barrel lengths from 2" to 8", wood and synthetic grips along with popular caliber options including .22 LR, .22 Mag, .38 Spl. and .357 Mag. The model that caught my eye was the wood-gripped, 6" barrel 9 mm model shown here. It looks like an enjoyable and inexpensive way to punch targets at the range.

I've been hearing about Alfa Proj revolvers off and on for quite a few years now, but have yet to see one in person. Lots of hype but not many actually imported.

Maybe this time we will actually see significant numbers available for purchase.

They definitely have a Smith and Wesson vibe to them. Besides for the crane, it looks like it locks on the crane itself vs the tip of the ejector rod. Which is a good thing.

Interested, and I may seriously look at them if they offer an 8” .357 with decent sights. I need a .357 double action gun, and this looks like a reasonable competitor to the likes of the 686 or Python. I had nearly settled on a Taurus 608 (Prefer the older 607) but we will just have to see what it’s like in the hand.

Looks like a tube and shroud barrel system like S&W and Ruger are migrating towards. I see something polished on the end of the barrel. Not saying that's good or bad, just saying.

Cheap revolvers with cheap lockwork, that is quite different from S&W - you get what you pay for. They go bang, but that's it.

I've been curious about these for a long time. A guy brought one to a (small USPSA) match last week. The trigger felt surprisingly good for an OOB revolver... except that it had intermitent failures to reset.

I have handled and disassembled more than one. Look, I'm not saying that it will blow in your hands, just that it's a cheap revolver - do not expect some hidden gem because you will be disappointed. If you are expecting the same quality as with the old Brno ZKR revolvers - it's not there.

Thanks, wasn't sure if it was speculation or hands on experience. I didn't have much for expectations , was genuinely curious about them though. Probably along the lines of taurus/eaa quality? Do you recall what they used for crane lock up ?

I would say that they are about the same as the EAA Windicator, maybe a tad better. There is no crane lock, only at the back of the cylinder.
