Hello everybody. I have been viewing the threads for quite a while and have enjoyed the wealth of information.
I hold a permanent resident visa. When I lived in TX, I owned a safe of many rifles and handguns. It was legal for me to own them even as a nonimmigrant back then. I then moved to WA State 2005. I studied their gun state laws and were unfortunately not friendly for the non-US citizien. I then had to sell all my guns to my buddy in TX.
Since 2005, I waited patiently for me to be legal to own a firearm in WA. Then in 2006, the department of licensing stopped giving out the ALien Firearms License. I also now hold a permanent resident visa. I still waited... until March this year, they started giving out the licenses. I was the first one, according to the Benton County Sherriff office clerk, to apply. Then after 2 short weeks I received my AFL. I was so ecstatic! A few days after I went into a local gunstore and filled out the form 4473 for a rifle and handgun. Suprisingly and frustratingly, I was denied for both!! But I didn't give up. I was given a NTN and appealed. One week later, NICS sends me a certificate allowing me to purchase firearms. Last night, I brought in the certificate and walked out with a beautiful Taurus 24/7 pro 9mm! I was tempted to buy 2 more right there and then but couldn't allow the credit card bill to pile up.
