I'm looking at the 700s, but cant decide which one to get. Theres the BDL, ADL, BDL DM SSL, etc. ranging in price from $500-over $1200. I just need some help choosing between all of them. I just want to do some long range plinking with this rifle in 223 or 308. Google isnt turning up too much specific information. Personal suggestions? Pros, cons?

Thanks

I've had two BDLs and they are fine rifles for mass production. The action is built like a tank and you can't wear it out. It's so tough that it's our military sniper's action, IIRC.

308 is a fine caliber for hunting anything in the continental United States. (And then some.)

BTW, I've always chosen the 700 BDL because it was the only mass produced rifle also made in a left-handed action.

Moving to the correct forum. You will get more help in rifle country.

I would say that right now the SPS is the best value. Same features as the BDL except a matte finish. I've tried them in both 7mm-08 and in .308 with ootstanding results.
Stay with the .308's. I would call it one of te best all around cartridges of all time.

PSS?

not on your list but i love mine!
My brother bought one for me for a birthday a couple years ago.it has a wazo Leopold 20x mill dot and shoots like a champ.

I'd go by WalMart. I bought an ADL there a year ago for under $400. Any 700 will do fine for long range plinking, so price and availability ought to drive one's decision.

I'm a big Remington fan, and I like all of them; I own an ADL and a VLS, and have shot at the range the rest of the alphabet soup except for the XCR, Sendero and the Guide Rifle.

For the money, the BDL or CDL are probably the best bet; although many an ADL or SPS will equal them for slightly less cost.
