What is the difference between a SW-99 and a P-99? I am looking for a used Walther P-99, preferably from Earl's Repair Service. Anyone have any information?

How do the Smith & Wesson SW99 and Walther P99 differ?

The SW99 frame, although made by Walther in Germany, has a rounded trigger guard. The shape and composition of the SW99's slide is also different. The slide and barrel of the SW99 are stainless steel and melonite-finished. The slide and barrel of the P99 are steel and tennifer-treated. The P99 is considered by most to be superior to the SW99.

Smith offers a lifetime warranty on the SW99. Walther has a one year warranty.

I just bought a P99QA. If there was a SW99QA, I would have bought it because I like Smith's lifetime warranty. Smith just repaired my two-year old 617 under warranty and paid for shipping both ways.
