Anyone use this powder for .38 Spec. or .45acp, using 150 gr. RN for the .38 Spec. and 230 gr. RN for the .45. Target (bullseye) shooting only. Also need OAL and grs. for each. Bulk bullets bought from King Shooters Supply / PA. Thanks!

It is not a good choice for low pressure / low velocity target loads you mentioned.

Works best with full-tilt boogy loads in high pressure calibers like 9mm, .40 S&W, and 10mm.

It will not burn well in low pressure loads.

Also have some Dupont powder"s,(given to me) # IMR-4198, IMR-4227 and IMR-3031. What #'s are good? Rifle or pistol powders?, new to reloading, want to make sure i do it right. I know Unique and 231 are really what i need, But can't find any locally.

I tried PowerPistol in a 45 acp. Definitly for a high power load. Snappy recoil, and harsh on my 1911. For the application you seem to desire, In Alliant, may I suggest looking into, Bullseye, Red Dot, or Green Dot.

None.

Most IMR (Improved Military Rifle) powders are rifle powders.

They do make some powders suitable for handgun target use, but the large majority don't have numbers.

Hi-Score 700X, Trail Boss, & PB are IMR handgun powders.

It really sounds to me like you should buy at least one reloading manual and do some serious reading.

Free powder isn't so cheap if you don't have a clue what it is used for!

The powders stated were given to me with the JP-3 RCBS press with alot of die sets, primers and extras. And "YES", i'm reading, Not doing anything until i get everything together, a friend reloads, going over to his house in a week or 2 to re-learn (re-loading for 20 or so years), as the last time i reloaded was 35 years ago with my father. I ordered a good (digital) scale and Vibratory brass cleaner and calipers this week. Just getting everything together, and defining what i got.
