I am in tough times with finances, more money going out than is going in (you all know how that goes, LOL). So, as a result, I sold a few rifles that I didn't use/hadn't been fired in 3 years or better....

But I was hung on to my 870. I have wanted one of these since I first looked at a Remington catalog. Just the lines and grace of the Wingmaster intrigued me to where they were all I could think about, but I wasn't old enough or didn't have enough money at the time......so, at last I got an 870 Police Magnum for HD......

I had decided to break down and sell it today so that the couple hundred dollars that I would get for it would hold me till payday. I really needed at least $100 bucks.....so, with regret in my heart and tears in my eyes, I took it to the local gun shop to sell it.

This is the part where I am pretty sure God intervened and said "No child of mine shall be without an 870!" The dealer refused to buy it, because 1.) he didn't have the cash available and 2.) No one would buy it....he didn't state why. The thing is in *MINT* condition with the box and all of original papers (reciept, manual, the paper specifying what magazine extension and it's part number that is to be used, and all of that stuff)

After he told me no, he wouldn't buy it, I went home with defeat in my mind and feeling like crap. I really needed that money. That is about the time that my fiance told me that we had a guardian angel (this is the reason why I mentioned God up above) because she had just recieved a check for $125 from her car insurance company for dividends or something like that.....

So I got to keep my Remington 870 and I'm making it through troubled times....Yay!!

I'll never try to ever get rid of it again. That gun was meant for me and took almost losing it to see that. I feel alot better knowing that I still have that gun for HD and the ability to protect my family......:D

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

I'm glad it worked out.

I bet that the dealer thought it would be hard to sell just because it is a Wingmaster and in good condition. It is worth more than a new 870 express, so I think most gun-buyers would scoff at the idea of paying more for a used shotgun than a new one. That is, those gun-buyers that don't know or care about having a Wingmaster

I worked at a Gander Mountain store for about a year in the firearms department. I sold more 870s than I can count. None of them was a Wingmaster, despite having several on display. Never saw one sold by another worker, and never saw one of the display pieces disappear.

Glad you didn't sell your scattergun. A man needs a firearm, at least one.

You see, you're going about this all wrong.

Guns are non-renewable resources; once sold, another does not appear.

Consider selling blood/sperm/kidneys. Kidneys don't grow back, but the other two do.

Joking, of course (kind of). Sorry to hear about your troubles. May you find your pot of gold, friend.

you should defintely donate some Bolognese-sauce to
the Flying Spaghetti Monster!

:)

Yeah, I know they are are not a renewable resource........expecially 870s......

And the thing with the kidneys, I could do that, I have three of them! Sperm, well I've been neutered. My fiance and me have decided that two little girls is enough for us and the OBGYN won't tie her tubes till she is 25 years old, so, I went under the knife.

And Chilean - thanks for that scripture, it has now been printed out and placed on my desk out work.

I was just so amazed though that that 870 did not want to leave my home, and now it never will, well, it won't leave my hands, but I am really looking to the 2009 Francis Marion Swamp Fox Memorial, that just looks like to much fun!!! I know me and the 870 will do well (the 870 will, I need more practice!!!) LOL.

if you have to sell one of the family post it here, you'll get more than a dealer would give you. Sorry to hear about your hard times.

Sorry to say, I've been there. Sold my first shotgun for $50 when I couldn't make rent.

It's a tight time for lots of us now -- good luck and best wishes.

Hope you don't have "a next time" but perhaps you can find a friend that will give you a fair amount of cash but hold the shotgun for you until things turn for the better and you can repay.

Glad you still have it!

Yikes man, I have been down and out before and I regret selling the things I did for what I did. Try looking for a 2nd job, you will be glad later.
