Just curious, but what do you plan to use it for. I've never found a use for my full choke tubes. I tend to use IC 90% of the time with modified used occasionally for long shots at waterfowl with steel shot. On rare occasions when dove are flying high, I may switch to modified. During Turkey season I pass right over full and go straight to one of the extra full turkey tubes.
Same here. My SxS is choked IC/Mod for doves and if I shot quail, I'd probably go Cyl/IC. My other guns have their modified chokes installed and I can't recall where the other chokes are at the moment, don't care.
If I hunted turkey, I'd use a full, or probably my 10 gauge with the super full turkey choke it came with. I bought a modified choke tube for it as I hunt geese with it and the mod chokes steel Ts such that I get over 90 percent patterns at 40 yards in the mod choke. Steel requires less choke than lead.
When I was a kid, I hunted ducks with a full choke 20 gauge 870 wingmaster. A teal came racing in to me about 20 feet off the water and straight at me and I happened to catch him and set up for him. He turned about 10 yards out and I just pulled through him and fired. I got lucky and he fell dead in the water. I went to pick him up and found I'd blown his head completely off.
That's how tight the pattern was at 10 yards. Pure luck, couldn't do that again in 100 tries. LOL
I have an old SxS I shot ducks and geese with back when I could use lead on 'em and it's choked Mod/Full. I've considered getting it threaded or sending it somewhere to have the chokes opened up to IC/Mod so I'd have something I could hunt with it now days. It is an old gun, bought new in 1971, and I have other guns I like now days, but I keep it around for the memories it has in it.
