Oh my!

Picked up a Gen 3 G26 as a new primary CC. Already had a range bag packed, so I took it from my FFL to the club. Right outta the box. All I can say is that holy crap, one of the softest shooting 9mm's ever. Accuracy from 15 yards was good (for me) for a sub-compact. 8" target - all on using the stock iron's. Probably 4" groups.

Mounted a CT grip laser and it felt like I was shooting a 32 ACP!!! It's gotta be the 2 stage recoil guide/spring & the add'd padding from the CT. I ran thru Fiocchi FMJ, JHP, XTP JHP, S&B FMJ, Tula, & WWB. Didn't miss a beat. Loctite'd the windage/elevation. Gonna add fiber sites next.

Here's a pic.

I like the G26, esp. w/ a pierce pinky extension on the mag. The only downside for me is they are so fat at the slide- makes IWB carry uncomfortable.

G26 the perfect iwb carry gun I bought mine in 1999 and have out over 5000 rounds down the tube in practice. JHP, FMJ, my own handloads, even hard cast lead. It is the most reliable easy to conceal accurate carry gun I own.

As was posted (on another board) when I finally admitted that I'd discovered that Glocks weren't so bad, "There comes a time in every boy's life when he starts noticing...changes."

I've never shot a G26. Truth be told, I've only ever shot 4 Glocks: my G19, two different G21s, and a G23. I liked the first three, but didn't care for the G23.

Nonetheless, welcome to the Dark Side.

Subjectively, I never liked the Glock trigger or the grip angle. Objectively, I shoot them very well and recognize they are reliable, accurate, durable and reasonably priced.

If I were getting into guns now I'd go Glock. They have a size and caliber for every need or want (now that the G42 and 43 are out) and an endless aftermarket.

It's going to be a soft shooter because of it's size and weight. Most double stack subcompact 9mm pistols will be soft shooters, especially if you're using powder-puff target rounds.

That being said, the G26 and 27 with the pinky extension are very comfortable handling for someone with smaller hands as opposed to the compact and fullsize offerings. My G27 was a fun gun to shoot at the range, but it was a bit too bulky for me to want to carry daily.

If you can carry a G26 with pinky extension, you can probably carry a G19.

There is a significant difference in concealability.

The G26 with pinky extension conceals far better than the G19. In fact, if you think a G26 with pinky extension can probably just be upsized to a G19, you should probably just upsize that G19 to a G17 or G34 as that jump would be less significant than 26-->19
