I'm with feedthehogs on this one, I don't see how the growth rate of countries like china and india can be sustained, I forsee the same fate befalling them as what befell the soviet union, they can barely feed themselves now, they are driving themselves into extinction

Copper will run out eventually too. Peak oil is well discredited. Per pound, getting the plastics needed will be less expensive than using copper, especially with prices going the way they are. If they drop, fine, but eventually the dems will have to cave and allow drilling. The price of oil is already dropping, and unlike copper, there are renewable sources for the products we get from it.

This thread reminded me of a round that was given to me back in the 80's.

It appears to be a standard 5.56 brass, topped off by what I was told is a ceramic bullet

The bullet is a flat nose, (like ball, with the point clipped off) and appears to have been manufactured that way, as it seems to have mold marks on the exposed end.

I was told at the time that it was part of a government program to field a new round for Spec Opps, but I have no idea of the veracity of that, and really don't know what it is made of, other than it obviously isn't lead.

If anyone has any information on this round, it would be interesting to me to find out it's intended purpose.

The Club of Rome returns!:scrutiny:

They were wrong before and likely will continue to be wrong.

Resource limits are very economically dependent.
Just as the increase in the price of crude oil makes it worth working harder to get crude, increase in the price of copper, augmented by changes in the use of copper will carry us a very long way.
