Am I crazy for wanting 4 of the same pistol?

What? I collect Glock 17s...they're like...like...you know, Krugerrands. A store of wealth.

That's hilarious. :D

No one who buys as many guns as us can be 100% sane

I agree, once bitten by the "gun bug" sanity (as it relates to purchasing decisions), starts to slowly decline.

Seems like a waste of money considering that 1 and 2 can be combined, and 3 and 4 can be combined.

If you just bring your nightstand gun with you to your truck, you can combine 1+2. Anyway, you wouldn't want to leave that nice gun in your truck overnight would you?

Also, you can get combo tritium+fiber optic sights for competition, so you can combine 3+4.

You can easily fill your practical needs with just two of those guns... one for defense and one for matches. I would way rather spend the extra $1200+ on loading components, as opposed to having a bunch of redundant guns sitting around. Unless you are just rich and bored and looking for ways to get rid of some money. If that is the case, I have a nice home in Vegas that you might be interested in.

I have multiple Glock 35's set up in different ways for different competition classes. Maybe not normal, but I do not think it is nuts.

Howdy,

I have 4 Astra's in .32 acp, 1914, 2-1915's & a 1916. All run well and they are stragically located & loaded, including the 1915 on my hip. For my hand it's the best point & shoot pistol I've ever held.
I say if you can afford it go for it!

Hell, while they are all variants, they are essentially the same gun... I have 5 - with 2 more planned purchases :)

No. I've see photos of peoples' collections, one with 25 Ruger MkIIs and another with 45 1911s. Four? That's nutin'

Ah, but there is a difference, much like collecting 'corvettes' there are many DIFFERENT variations of those pistols, so you can have 45 45's and none will be the same.

Here's why I want four:

1. Bedside ready with night sights and TLR-1

2. In my truck's center console with night sights and TLR-1

3. For daytime matches with fiber optic sights.

4. For nightime/low light matches with night sights.

Do you really think four's enough? I don't see a bathroom gun on your list.

And you could cut down to only three by using the same gun in the truck and nightstand.

Leaving a gun in a truck 24/7 is, sooner or later, only going to arm a crackhead who breaks into the truck to steal your car wash quarters out of the ash tray!

I agree with this (and a few others who are on the same lines with their comments.) I think owning 4 (or 40) of the same gun is fine if they are all in the safe unless you are home; but for protection I carry the same pistol everywhere I go for a few reasons:

- its always on me when I need it.
- I know the feel / operation / weight / etc. of that pistol as well as I know my own body
- it can't be stolen unless it is taken off of me because it is never unattended

I figure it is a "good habit" to get into to carrying it to and from the driveway, to and from the office to the parking lot, etc... of course, we can't all carry at work.

What's CRAZY is that S&W doesn't offer the pro series 5" in .45 ACP. I really liked the one I handled (.40 S&W) and want one (or four) to shoot in IPSC "limited" class. As for owning multiple variants of the same model ... I have five SIG P220s so I guess I'm nuts too!!!

The one who dies with the most guns wins! 4 M&Ps is a good start although Charleton Heston would be hared to beat.

The M&Ps are a good pistol. I have my share.

I have an XD-40 Subcompact and an XD-40 Service. I want the XD-40 Tactical for no better reason than to complete the set. At least you have a justification for yours :D

I say knock yourself out if you just want to buy guns, but in terms of what I actually USE (I'm a Glock shooter), I have a G34 for competition and a G19 w/night sights for carry/nightstand/car/any other defensive variation. I also have it with me as a backup match gun if I were to need it, since it used to be my match gun as well.

One defensive gun that comes with you eliminates all the unattended loaded guns in the nightstand, overnight in the car, etc in your plan. If you are going to work or someplace else you won't be able to carry on your person, just put it in the console at the start of your trip rather than at the end, and that should eliminate concerns about messing with it in the company parking lot.

NAH, crazy doesn't fit into the equation! If I could afford them, I'd have about 5 or 6 more Colt Pythons around here, not sitting around in every room mind you, but would love the company they'd give. I bought one about 20-some years ago, a 6" Beauty, the smoothest shooting revolver I own. I don't care much for the SS versions tho, I have a 6" SS S&W 44 mag, but thats all, something about that Royal Blue sets them off !!! I'm not knocking anyone's preference for any other brand/style/caliber, whatever trips your trigger { no pun intended }. I'd love to have back the 4" Python my wife gave me when we were first married, had to part with it to pay a bill. :cuss: I'd like to have more of them, but the prices on them now....... whew! Feel blessed if you can afford more, get 'em !

No.
