Am I CRAZY!!?? I Want A .45 Upper For My SBR

I already have a registered lower. I think a 8-10 inch with the ultimate goal of being suppressed is in order.

A few questions:

Anyone other than Olympic make .45 uppers? Specifically SBR uppers?

Are they blowback operated? As in no gas system to fool with?

I would like one that takes unmodified grease gun mags. I would like to drop in upper and mag-block and be good to go.

Any reason to not do this? I'm thinking a handguard coming to the end of the barrel, with the suppressor sticking out would give it clean lines.

I cant recall off the top of my head which one doesnt fit, but either grease gun or thompson mags wont fit in a magazine well. and I recall a lower specially designed to allow both. But you arent crazy, but if i'm going big calibers, I'll go .450 bushmaster. Papa needs a whitetail hunting pistol.

I haven't measured either magazine yet. I have an Olympic upper and plan to modify a lower, preferably for a Thompson mag. The 9mm colts originally used a modified UZI mag.
I also wounder if one of the .45 UZI mags would work. This would limit you to 16rds only.
The Olympic mag holds 18rds and requires no modification to your receiver. I don't like it because if the wasted space to fill an unmodified magwell. Now if someone would make a double mag that would be the heat.

I thought about Uzi mags until I saw the price and availability...Ya see, I'm a big magzine w****. My gun with the least mags is my FNP-45 with 6. I have a bunch of Glock 21 mags I should see if those fit.

Get in touch with Ron Williams of RMW Xtreme. He builds direct gas uppers. The .45 one is called the DI-45.

He built me a 7.5" .40 upper that is amazing, although for now it is just on a pistol for me.

I have a couple of .45ACP uppers...one came from Dalphon when they were still in business. I have dedicated .45 lowers that take greasegun magazines. Cavalry Arms composite lowers will accept the Hahn block that allows greasegun magazines as well. The magazine well has enough room to accommodate the block, but most lowers do not.

When I got the first upper, I used Uzi magazines that had a block welded to them so they would fill up the magazine well. But they were expensive, hard to find, and a b***h to carry because of the block.
