Am I just being impatient?

Back on September 10th I broke down and had the gun shop order me a Norinco Trench Gun. I've loved the lines of the original for as long as I can remember and the Norinco would be the only way I can afford one (was either an authentic Winchester or pay my Property Taxes... Property Taxes just narrowly beat out the Winchester ) Anyhow as of September 28th, it still hasn't come in. In the beginning I was told all the orders were delayed, probably had to do with the anniversary of September 11th. More recently I was told that UPS might be going on strike so most of the distributors switched to Fed Ex and USPS. Them doing that has caused a backlog in the deliveries. I've never actually had the shop order something for me, all my purchases thus far have been walk in, buy off the rack, walk out. Or call the importer, I want that one, delivered to my door thanks to the C&R. Is it normal to take this long for an ordered gun? I'm just feeling like Veruca Salt in Willy Wonka, "I want it nooooow" lol.

I have to go visit a friend of mine after work today, probably drop into the shop while I'm there. I just hope it's in

They are taking entirely too long. Either the place they are ordering it from is out of stock and they aren't telling you, or they haven't bothered to order it.

The way I would do this:
Find a distributor that stocks the gun. Southern Ohio Gun has it in their most recent catalog that I seem to have misplaced at the moment, so I can't get you the price, but it was in there.

Go to your shop and arrange for them to do a transfer. Depending on where you are and what the going rate is, it should cost between $20 and $50. If they won't do it, find another shop. I have found that pawn shops often will do this and do it the cheapest. Get a copy of their FFL, signed in ink.

Call the distributor and order the gun. Then send the copy of the FFL to the distributor (they may take it by fax now, that depends on the distributor).

Distributors are usually quick about shipping. After about 1 week your gun will arrive in the shop and you can go do the NCIS check and pick it up.

I have a pretty decent FFL guy I do business with. I usually find what I want on the Internet and have him do the transaction with my credit card. I ordinarily verify that the item is in stock with the vendor or seller before I hand it off to the FFL to complete the transaction. On the rare occasion I can't find what I'm looking for he tracks it down via his own networking and phone calls. Everything is $25 a transaction no matter whether I do all the leg work or he does. I can't imagine doing business with an FFL complacent enough to settle for a back order when he knows I want it now. If the FFL tells me that the only way to get what I want is to backorder it, that's fine. Keeping a customer in the dark in a "you must wait for it indefinitely" limbo isn't acceptable if you have money burning a hole in your pocket and really need a 12th Mosin Nagant NOW.

I was so disappointed I went out and bought this
