too much. For about 8 months now, I have been shooting my beautiful Model 70 in 270 20 times once a week. It was only shot 15 times in it's first 59 years of life. So, that means that I have shot it appx 640 times over the 8 months. It gets merticulous cleaning.

How can you shoot a gun "too much?" What do you expect to happen?

If it is a bench-rest grade tack driver, after 3,000 rds. or so you'll probably notice your groups opening up and will want to swap in a new barrel, but that's a consumable item that will cost a lot less than the ammo you've put through it by then.

It's going to pick up finish wear from handling it often, but all really loved guns get that. It's a mark of character.

I don't know how many, MANY, rounds you'll have to shoot before the action is shot out. Not even quite sure it's possible.

Shoot it!

Guns are designed to last thousands of rounds of ammo, and are MEANT to be shot. You aren't going to wear out your rifle with that sort of shooting. It will likely last a lifetime...or several lifetimes...with proper care.

You're only shooting it too much if you're bored. Safe queens don't last in my household.

I bought a new post '64 Model 70 in 270 Winchester in 1973. I used it for everything from ground squirrels and elk with coyotes and jack rabbits in the middle. In 20 years I put right at 8,000 rounds of hand loads thru it. To the best of my recollection the only factory ammo was the first three boxes of Remington 130 gr. that I bought with the gun. In 1993 it had started to get to the point that I couldn't do 2" at 100 yards from a rest, It had been a 1 1/4" gun for all its life using Hornady 130 gr. Spire Points and 52.5 gr. of W760 in reformed military "06 cases.
I rebarreled it to 338-06 and bought another new post '64 Model 70 in 270 Winchester.
I'd say you have a ways to go. Keep shooting, that's what they were built to do!!!!!
