Hey everyone!
I was wondering, while I have a modest arsenal, reloading equipment, 100 acres of private shooting range, cases of ammunition; Am I the only one here who has so much other stuff to do that they don't take time to shoot? Has marriage,(wife likes to shoot too)children and a daylite to dark job done this to anyone else.

You're not alone. TFL, and now THR, fill a big gap in that hunger though. Sometimes talking about stuff online gives me ideas that make the all too infrequent range trips much more enjoyable. It only takes a minute or two to go online while other things are taking place that I have to babysit anyway. :D

I try to set aside ONE HOUR a week for shooting at
the local range. It's usually on Sunday morning
and after the range I take my wife out for lunch.
 
Usually this time of year I'd be at the range every day, but it's closed until futher notice. :mad:

That said, there's been a lot of other stuff going on that's kept my shooting down, such as work.
 
Wish I had more time to shoot. I work at 12 hour a day schedule of 3 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on 3 days off so I can usually find a bit of time to shoot with the notion strikes but the notion strikes more often than I can allow for. We're looking to move where I could shoot on our own property and, if I can get on the good side of the local farmer, will have infinite moving targets in the form of coyote and crows.
 
Thanks be for early retirement, even at the expense of several heart attacks (well, they did suck, actually). My pistol range is six steps out the back door. I love it. Some of my pines hate it, though. A couple are about to topple over from the holes!:D
 
Yup.

I've no answers, though....

I do fire enough to keep myself happy with the current CCW (auto in summer, wheel in winter).

But work does seem to fill available time, and marriage is also work, even if it is happy work.
 
Work

It's kind tough...in order to have enough money to buy the kinds of toys that I want to buy, I need to work so much OT that I don't have time to go shoot them.

Yeah, I'm feeling it too and I'm not even married. Although sometimes, the way my girlfriend is, I feel like I am. :p

Let's see, I can't give up the job. I need to fund my hobbie. Looks like the girlfriend has to go!! :cool:
 
If something is important to you, you make the time.

Shooting is important to me, so I make the time to get to the range.
 
You aren't alone in that boat. I used to shoot at least twice a week, now I don't get out twice in 2 months sometimes. To make it worse, I can shoot in my backyard or walk into the farm that borders my backyard in the summer. I belong to a club that has an indoor pistol range I can use during the winter.

But - leaving for work at 7:00AM, getting home after 6:00PM each nite, a home to maintain, etc. etc., my shooting gets set aside. It is true that you will do what you prioritize. I like to shoot because it is relaxing recreation for me. When it gets to be a hassle to get out & do it, it is not relaxing anymore & I don't do it.

*sigh* I have too many guns to be not shooting...
 
You're not alone. I have a decent sized arsenal, and add to it on a regular basis, but I rarely have time to shoot. Working 60 hours/week doesn't help either. I look at it as an investment. Once the kids are out of college, I'll have plenty of time to shoot. I'll make up for it then.

With some 50 firearms and a range in the backyard, there's no excuse for the fact that I haven't pulled a trigger on a live round in two weeks... :(
 
I just ended a 2 month period without live-fire. It was truly bad, I think I started going into withdrawl symptoms. I was very busy, but now I've got another two weeks with little to nothing on the visible sechdule and plan to make up for lost time.
 
WORK...
is a four letter word.

I think if I had a place top shoot in my backyard, it would make it a lot easier.
 
Ditto.

My job is my life most of the time. That is one of the dangers of loving your job, it doesn't stay at the office.

But I can shoot on my property so it's not uncommon for me to stop in the middle of hacking some code and squeeze off a few hundred rounds. Beats taking it out on the computer... or the wife
 
Yes. TFL and now THR is the only thing remotely close to shooting that I get to do since im stuck over here.

Back in the states marriage, golf, and archery compete with shooting all the time. I do make sure I get some range time each month to keep proficient since I carry all the time.

Ever try golfing with a Glock in your waist band?
