Hey, I bought an AMD-65 kit and was wondering if an rpk/m72 barrel will fit inside the AMD-65's front trunnion? The kit didn't come with the AMD-65 barrel and I was hoping on using an RPK barrel. I know the gas tube and piston will need to be replaced from the AMD-65 kit but what about the gas block, will it be the same for Yugo m72 or Romy RPK? Will the m72 barrel fit inside the AMD-65 front trunnion?

My ideal build is taking my AMD-65 kit, buying the regular Ak47 receiver, m72 barrel, ak47 gas tube and piston and throwing it all together.

These are my parts I am eying to purchase for it.

I'm still looking for more m72 or Romy RPK barrels

I live in Montana so laws don't apply for barrel length and things.
Sure it does. Not sure what you meant by that, but.

ATF / Federal minimum barrel length law applys everywhere in all 50 states.

oh, well it doesn't matter either way. I don't want an 8" barrel. What would anyone plan on hitting with a barrel of 8"?! I know the muzzle extender exception to the laws but I want at least the regular AK barrel but I would like to try the RPK 20" if it'll work.

I don't want an 8" barrel.
Just so you know:
The minimum legal barrel length for a rifle in the U.S.A. is 16", not 8".

Anything less then 16" is classified as a SBR and requires a tax stamp and permission from the ATF to own it.

I heard it's 12" to be legal? I thought people just bought the 8" AMd barrel and bought a super long muzzle break of 4" to make it legal at 12"? I plan on getting the 16" barrel but would like the 20" IF AT ALL POSSIBLE

If you heard 12" you heard wrong.

Minimum barrel length for a rifle is 16", and minimum OAL is 26".

If you add a long muzzle brake to a barrel to make it 16", it must be blind-pinned or welded on to make it permantly 16".

Shotguns must be 18" & 26".

The AMD-65 barrel length is *12.5"*(not 8", sorry for the confusion rc I was right just not my information, now it makes sense) stock so after adding the 4" muzzle break it would be 16.5". But even after the muzzle break added it's not part of the barrel so accuracy wouldn't improve. I still would rather have the 16" or the rpk/m72 barrels. Returning to the top, can anyone answer the questions? Thanks
