I'm new to this site but I have researched this topic on the site and found that American Select is used in 9mm. I'm new to 9mm reloading but have loaded 45 colt with Trail Boss powder and like the way it fills the case half full. I'm using a Dillon 550 and it meters well thru it. I use American Select in 12 gauge and like it and I have 8#s of it. I'm using a Billy Bullet 115 grain lead round nose moly coated bullet which when seated at 1.135 or 1.145will be touching and even compressing the 5 grain charge. I am thinking about lowering the charge to 4.7 grains which was suggested by a poster in a previous post. Has anyone had more experiece loading this powder and bullet? I have been looking for W231 or HP-38 but no shops have any right now but I have a friend that has some for me to try but I wanted to try what I have first. Basically, I just wasn't expecting the case to be filled so full and touching the bullet. Any help or confirmation would be appreciated. Thanks for listening.

Maximum load for 115gr 9mm jacketed bullet is 5.2gr using American Select according to Alliant data.

Lead bullets use lighter charges for the same velocity so a good rule of thumb is to use 20% off the jacketed load for start and no more than 10% less for maximum.

That would be 4.2grs to 4.7grs. Work it up by loading 10 rounds at each weight starting at 4.2grs and increasing by .1gr until you reach 4.7grs. Test them at the range and you should find a good load among them.
