Note in the picture that the AK doesn't have the evil flash hider. He must have bought it at a gun show before Sept. 13...

Do ALL military AK's have the muzzle brake? (Trying to figure out if this guy is in the Middle East or in the USA, i.e. is that a real AK or a civilian lookalike.)

I didn't think AK-47's had flash hiders, but I may be wrong.
 
At least some pre-ban AK lookalikes by Polytec - including those with side folding stocks - had no flash hiders, so the absence isn't significant. Especially with some 60,000,000 AK-clones produced worldwide by everyone and his brother.
 
A pretty hefty portion of AKs never had flashhiders mounted, some had brakes, some had "muzzle nuts" some had nothing at all. it sure looks like he has a bayonet lug though.
 
I was trying to figure out if he had a military AK (argues for him being in the Middle East) or a U.S.-market civilian lookalike like a SAR-1 or something, which would be a significant bit of information. I was wondering if the gun he's holding is consistent with any known military AK-47 variant.
 
The wings may be shaved off the bayonet lug, turning it into just a holder for the cleaning rod.

I think I see a barrel nut, and the cleaning rod attachment looks a lot bigger than the one on my SAR-1, so I'm assuming it's a military AK?

With all the hand motions in that video it looks like you have been watching power rangers too much.

I honestly can't take you guys seriously. I know it is "dangerous" to say but really, you are just silly. Some of your guys look like they are doing music videos, some look like that kid on the internet that rapped on a home video and then posted it all over the internet. Can we set off an EMP to break all of your darned camera's? That would do us all a favor. I am tired of every yahoo with a camera issuing fartwads or whatever you call them. It's tired, it's old, and godd@#$it I am sick of hearing it. Tell somebody else about your blood baths you spoiled little B*7ch. For those who are having trouble locating it, the 'nut' is located approximately a foot to a foot and a half to the viewer's left of the muzzle.
 
On the radio, I heard that a southern CA Muslim leader thought he looked like somebody who used to go to his mosque. A guy who converted in about 1995 and was kicked out for attacking a staff member.
 
It's been dissected on other boards, it's a older Chinese AK47 with either a muzzle nut or just a bare threaded barrel, it's hard to make out. The bayonet mount is intact... I believe viewing a good chunk of the actual video revealed it to be a underfolder too, but I can't recall for sure as I didn't see that footage...

If the terrorist were holding a U.S.-market ban-era civilian AK lookalike like a SAR-1, then the video would have been shot IN THE U.S., not the middle east. Which would put things in a rather different light, no? Fortunately, the fact that he's holding a rifle consistent with his being over in the sandbox somewhere instead of here means that he's just talking trash. If the video indicated that he were already here in the States, I'd be a little more worried. Not to say that there aren't any A.Q. folks already here, but it's a less worrisome perspective, IMHO.
 
This knucklehead's finger reminds me of Babu from Seindfeld...."Very bad man..." I wonder if he followed Skunks instructions on turning a T-shirt into a ninja hood.
