1. The badger (el T) suggested the link between the drug war, and this type of behavior. I think he may be on to something. Interstate 85 runs up the middle of Davidson county, probably a steady source of drug busts/asset seizures. Voila, instant funding for toys like nascar/childress-powered squad cars, swat gear.

Most definitely. This WoD will be the ruination of LE credibility nationwide. Cops everywhere will be looked on in much the same manner as cops of Capone-era Chicago if they keep it up.

My personal observation of Kleberg County deputies is that they watch Southbound traffic on Hwy 77 far more than the Northbound. It is interesting to note that the Southbound cars would be the ones carrying money while the Northbound ones would merely have the drugs. Apologists for this type of behavior state that it hurts the drug smugglers by removing their cash, but you're not supposed to notice that the cash is seized and used by the department for all those flashy new toys. Nor are you supposed to question the fact that this does little in the way of removing the drugs which is the justification for all this.

I'm sure the other counties do this to but not a blatantly as Kleberg.

TX DPS is almost always hitting the Northbound traffic in South TX. I'd say that 90 percent of the time they're oriented on the Northbound lanes of 77 and 281. If drug interdiction is your stated purpose this is what I would expect to see.

The elected county reps should have put an end to this reject from the young Hitlers youth when they saw his web site.

I thought he's just as funny as Mayberry! Andy Taylor on steroids.

I especially love the picture where he states he is "too famous to eat lunch uniterrupted". I guess he will have to change his "KA&TN" slogan to .....(never mind, this IS The High Road!):D

I gotta wonder what this guy's office was like when you went in and applied for a pistol permit or CCW.

Interesting trivia for Davidson County:

2,684 CCW applications.
1,346 issued
20 denied
16 revoked

(that doesn't add up, what about the other 1,302? :scrutiny: )

Gotta admit that he's got some cool gear though. He probably toted that MP5 around due to being in constant fear of getting fragged.

Gerald Hege fires a clip of 9mm ammunition from his M-3 machine gun at a swamp in rural Davidson County.

He did this in front of a reporter? ***? Why? Don't get me wrong, I'd do the same thing just for kicks and grin, but I sure wouldn't make a photo op. That just strikes me as trying too hard to look like a tough guy.

Again, has to show off for the camera? Why?

:uhoh:
I think this is a perfect case of special equipment and tactics being carried outside of SWAT-type teams and being taken too far by regular officers. Heck, even SWAT teams don't walk into the local dinner in full fatigues and body armor (could that be why he always gets noticed at lunch?) All in all, very disturbing...

My gosh, I am so sorry to he... *snicker* ...hear about this poor man's mis... *snort, chortle* ...misfortune. I hope he recieves the...

the...

...oh, gawd, I'm sorry, I can't keep up the pretense. This clown got what he had coming and so very richly deserved. If there is any cosmic justice, he'll wind up in his very own pink jail amongst some of the very prisoners he belittled on TeeeVeee.

Don't drop the soap, sheriff! :D

Bwahahahahahahahaa! :neener:

Parker and hammer, just so you know, el T had a direct hand in the WoD and the booty that befalls LE in this unending "war."

Not sure what you're meaning by that, but my point is that it is rapidly becoming apparent that the "booty" is more important to some than the reason the "booty" existed in the first place. Pretty soon the conclusion that removal of the drugs isn't what LE is after but rather money is what they're after become inescapable. Then how much longer until corruption, like the subject of the thread is accused of, is assumed to be the norm.

I don't really follow this stuff, so if I recognize it you can bet others are just about feeling like they've been beat over the head with it.

His trade mark sunglasses and military style uniforms have put fear into drug dealers and criminals throughout the southeast and are being copied by other sheriff offices.

Uh, he's kidding, right? :scrutiny:
