Amica doesn't want your business.

I've never been asked by an insurance agent/company, MD, dentist, or anyone else if I owned a gun or what kind or how many, except for close friends who wanted an opinion about something. If I were ever asked I think I'd just say, "thanks, but that's none of your business, and I'm taking mine elsewhere."

Too many people bend over backwards to be pleasant or non-confrontational with everyone no matter how obnoxious their questions or attitude might be.

Maybe it's old age and a bad attitude....

Happy long time Amica customer like 45 badger. No complaints, but not many claims either! They have been very practical and very fair, and like I said a long time customer.

Perhaps it was just the specific field agent or person you spoke to? I would call the local office, ask to speak to a manager and then ask if these questions and line of questioning were standard policy.

insurance co

some agents have done this type of thing I heard of Farm Bu. on a range.BUT it is usualy a anti person and not the insurance co.check with main office and not local office.:uhoh::confused:

I have been insured with Amica all my life (since I turned 16 and got a car). Auto, home, and (when I was renting), apartment. Never had to answer any questions like that ... not ever.

I also never heard of Amica being offered through an agent. One of my high school basketball team mates is an insurance agent. He handles all my other insurance, but he has acknowledged that no company he handles can match Amica's rates or service -- and he says they sell only direct, which is how I have always dealt with them.

Something doesn't sound right about this report.

I have no reason to badmouth a company I thought well enough to do business with. I am merely sharing my unique experience with the people I know that prize the 2nd amendment. I am a surgical P.A. and I have nothing to gain by slamming an insurance co. I have shared this with all of the firearms forums that I belong to. I'm sure Jim Zumbo had his defenders too.

I got a policy w/Amica a few months ago....the rep asked about guns, I told him yes....after a bunch of questions he gave me the "underwriting review" line. Called me back next day and requested a list of what I have.
I faxed it to him, and he called me the next day, asked some more questions, I answered and added that I have a C&R license....
A couple days later he called back and said it was a go...

I've inquired several times about homeowners' policies over these past 15-20 years (for quotes and info) and have never been asked those kinds of questions. Many have mentioned that if I have cash, jewelery or guns that there is a limit ($100-$500) on those items unless I take out an extra cost rider.
I've not called Amica, & won't now.
