Speer 146gr JHP-SWC in .38spcl+P case on top of 5.0gr of Unique with Winchester small pistol primers. Crimp just over the shoulder, OAL = 1.388".
This load works for me. If, however, you do not roll your own I would suggest a box each of rounds you believe will be favorable and testing them from a rest. There is no substitute for testing each load in YOUR gun. Guns are like women, they are all different, and what turns on one won't neccessarily turn on another.
Edit: I seem to have better luck with bullets in the 140gr, 146gr, 148gr weight classes, than those at the extreme ends of the weight scale (110gr, 158gr). May want to try the Speer 135gr GD-HP. I haven't, but I hear good things.
