Anyone picked up a newer (last year or two) Tarus 85 or 605? I am a fan of the 3" revolvers, and the price difference between the Tarus and the Ruger SP101 is pretty substantial. Despite some folks having trouble with some of the Taurus models, it seems they usually get the 85 right from what I have gathered. I used to manage the gun shop for an LE Distributor, and I never had a Taurus 85 come back. I did have a couple of 65/66 models come back with timing issues, but on a whole the returns for repair were pretty low. Any issues with the current 85 or 605 series?

thanks,

My blue all steel model 85 is one of the most accurate guns I own. I have owned it under a year.

I've got a model 905 which is the same frame, same internal parts. It's been nothing but a pleasure. Sweetest single action trigger I've pulled on a wheel gun.

Thanks for the replies. For about $135 less than a new SP101, the Taurus is looking pretty good right now.

I like the Ruger a lot, very strong design. I have a M85UL I carry more, though, because it's lighter. I have a 3" Taurus M66 that ain't much heavier or bulkier than the Ruger, too.

Yeah, the 85 has the best DA pull I've ever owned out of the box. Amazing trigger, great shootin' little gun. The 605 is a nice gun, too, don't own one of those. But, it's sure an alternative to the SP101. Great little gun for less money. I'm going to sell my son-in-law back the SP101 I have when he gets back next spring from Iraq. I bought it with that agreement. Sorta thought I might replace it, but I'm redundant in that niche now and think I might get a P3AT instead. I've been wanting one. We'll see, though. A 3" SP101 would be so close in size and weight to my 3" M66, I'm just thinkin' it'd be too close in size. I like the Taurus, don't wanna sell it, too accurate.
