I went to a Gun Shop the other day to buy some 7X57 ie Mauser7mm ammo. They had 139 gn SP. Trouble was the two well known brands were too bloody expensive, even with 15% discount for being a regular. So I asked about other brands. There was a another brand that was half the price of the other two. I've used this cheaper ammo before in other calibers and found it just as good as the expensive brands. This pisses me off. Anyone else find these price variations anoying? Dont want to mention brand names just get the feelings of other shooters. BTW, I'm in Australia. :fire:

Many reasons for varying costs, from import/export costs, shipping, taxes, maker's in house costs, etc.

Yet another reason to learn reloading

ammo prices

Yeah I reload all my ammo for all calibers, except this one. I just needed some rounds to put through my 1935 Banner Mauser that I hadn't fired before. Understand about prices, but twice the price? Dont think so. I'll look further afield and i certainly will shop around. Thanks

You're ticked off because all brands don't cost the same?

If that's the biggest of your troubles, then you've got it pretty good.

The realities of ammo prices nowadays . Just imagine if a social unrest or some upheaval do happen, ammo will be nonexistent on the shelves as the supply train stops . The ammo thats on the LGS will be scooped up in no time. Just like we re seeing right now. The birdshots at WM will be gone in an hr. Nothing left .

I know it's only a small matter and yes I am well aware of the trouble you guys are having in the States. We've been through that too. New regs being attempted here too. In another State, NSW, it's being put forward that Govt documents relating to firearm ownership "registration" has been leaked from police departments. Firearms are being stolen from legitimate registered owners, safes and all. So the great registration idea is a crock of ****. Anyhow I'm over the ammo thing, had to vent somewhere and no place is better than here with likeminded people. Even as an Aussie I am fully aware of the 2nd. Good luck with that. And yes, I am an NRA and SSAA Member. Thanks for commenting.
