hu? and that has what to do with the hoarding of primers (even for those who dont reload) and ALL AMMO..

Seems to have been a shift lately. The Cabelas here in the Ft Worth area has primers stacked high.... Federal. The Bass Pro had CCI stacked up as well, just in the last couple of weeks.

Gonna be tough to keep blaming so called "hoarders" for a shortage that seems to have passed.

For whatever reason Graf continues to be out of them, but they are all over the retail shelves around here.

Short version. Increased demand due to
1) Increased military demand for US and other forces. (At one point US was buying ammo from Israel )
2) Decrease availability of surpluss ammo across the world for many reasons
3) Increased demand due to worries about economy.
4) Reports of shortages and/or price hikes of raw materials.
5) Obama's election caused a huge surge in firearms/magazine/ammo/components sales. Rightly or wrongly, given Obama's and the Democrats history/statements/party plank , MANY people expected additional guncontrol of whatever flavor from Washington and "voted" with their wallets.

Yep, classic economics. Only 2 ways to fix shortages and high prices. Decrease demand or increase production. I've read several articles that the various ammo makers are maxed out in production (thank goodness some folks have steady work). Demand may go down depending on a couple of factors. Are the new shooters a flash in the pan or are they here to stay? Are the ammo manufacturers going to expand their production? Will the political factors change in a way to lessen anxiety or increase it?

I, for one, would be hoarding if I could but I just don't have that much spare cash! lol

Without drifting into polyticks, could the shortage have anything to do with new regs on reloaders selling ammo. Or bans on importation from China, and India. Would it be impolite or even inpolytick to suggest we demand a law calling for the refund of all fees, licences, and taxes related to R2KB be taken directly off of income taxes. If these fees were applied at the church door, or on newspapers, the howl would be heard clear to Mars. [polytick; many blood sucking parisite I can spell if I want to]

Posts 1750 is full of all the rumors that fuel the hysteria. We do it to our selves.
