Starting to see major ammo resellers running out of ammo.

Midway USA out of "bulk" 223, premium ammo still available.

Ammoman showing major shipping delays, heavy order volume. Still shows some in stock.

AIM SURPLUS IS SOLD COMPLETELY OUT OF

* 5.56 NATO / 223
* 7.62x39
* 7.62 NATO / 308

(I didn't check other calibers)

I see that all .223 ammo on Cabela's site is backordered now. Anyone been to a Cabelas store today? Was their any .223 left? Thinking about going after work to see, but its an hour drive each way. I will call beforehand, but just wondering if anyone knew what the trend is. I have a feeling I am too late! Would love to get my hands on a 500 rnd tin of Herter's .223, fat chance right!

Anyone got a source for 5.56 ammo?

Friend of mine in Northern Illinois got caught with his pants down, can't find any.

The ammo situation was not good before Friday. It's not gonna get better any time soon.

I'm sure you can get it...........If you're willing to pay a 200% premium. CTD was asking $899 for a case of M855 yesterday. It seems enough people were willing to pay that :what:

If you didn't stock up over the last few years, you're suffering for it now. I'll still be shooting 5.56mm at $0.22/round for awhile yet.

I've got a half case of brand new 2012 marked Federal XM193 I'd be willing to sell; 500 rds. PM me with an offer, I'm in WI.

But yeah, ammo is becoming unobtanium.

So if I've been called an ammo hoarder in the past, and I haven't made an ammo purchase in over a year, and I feel no need to purchase anything at this time, what does that make me now?

Wise maybe. I'll pat myself on the back without feigning too much humility.

Everybody was talking about making sure to stock up before the '12 election. For about four years. If you didn't hear about it, that's the way it goes. Very good prices and opportunity were there. For about four years. Now this. If you don't have it, oh well.

I really don't see any shortages, just panic buying. You guys need to look at the big picture. The worlds economies across the pond have been down in the dumps for a long time. More European and russian ammo and weapons will keep on flowing to the U.S. Some of these economies don't produce any other exports(serbia, russia,romania,etc.) so it's just a matter of time before the ship comes in, so to speak. Just be a part of the solution by buying only what you need. Don't be like every other crazy idiot racing to buy up everything in sight. It will only perpetuate the high prices.

Over 100 AR's sold from one local gun shop this week so far, they have fewer than a dozen left as of 11:30 AM (probably all sold now).

They had self-imposed a "one case per customer" ration on ammo. And all ammo prices by the case mysteriously went up $40 overnight. (I was in there yesterday buying ammo and noticed the price change).

Other local shops I visited had NO ammo remaining, or evil black rifles.

Also, primer stocks at the local shops are getting low.

Magazines are gone, or getting gone fast.

I bought BEAUTIFUL surplus German Nato 7.62 and Radway Green in Bandoliers, free stripper clips also included, at about .30 a round a year and a half ago; it'll get there again, but not soon.

Zanders (a firearms wholesaler) has NO AR15 or AK-47 type rifles left. Also running very low or out of most high cap magazines.

So the wholesale suppliers are also running out of goods.

Panic buy, doomsday prep, stockpiling, just because or what ever it is there's not much 223/556 around at retail or online today. We'll have to see what happens after the holidays, but given the number of new ARs that were purchased it wouldn't surprise me if there will eventually be a demand/supply issue.

Local Wal-Mart still had a decent supply of ammo but it was obvious they had been hit hard in the past couple of days. Kid at the counter told me it was mostly .223/5.56mm causing the most excitement but strangely enough they were sold completely out of .38 Special.

You know I got online today and bought four boxes of Privi Partizan 32 ACP for a mere $10.50 a box...Two boxes of CCI Lawman 32 ACP,just to see if the Kel-Tec P32 digests it mind you,for $13.50 a box.
And oh yea,two boxes of Blazer Brass 9mm 115 gr. for $10.45 a box.
No problem.

Yeah I'm still coming up ZIP on 5.7x28mm.

And 5.56 at 40c/rd for the crap stuff?

Guess I'll need to get off my lazy duff and start reloading again. Buying factory was so much ... simpler, and less time consuming.

But hey.. I got all winter, and a bunch of components.

So now the million dollar question is ---

How long will the shortage last.

This is relevant so I can properly ration my shooting activity in the coming months / years.

Anyone remember how long it took to stabilize last time (2008-9)?

The Jan gun show will be VERY interesting.

We've got a Tanner next weekend, I was planning to go. Right now I'm thinking not so much. It'll be packed to the gills, and prices will be inflated. I don't need anything, and have no desire to deal with either situation.
