Have been thinking about moving all my ammo to another place to get it out of my home for safety reasons.Would it affect the ammo if it was stored in another small building if there was no heat available in the winter? The temps in the winter get down to zero in the winter months.

Cold is better for chemical (powder and primers) storage than heat. Same for loaded ammo. However I would suggest loaded ammo is probably safer in your home than in a storage building somewhere where you can't keep an eye on it.

If you're concerned about an explosion, there's no problem with loaded ammo. If you're worried about fire, ammo won't burn on its own but may burn if your house burns, but that's another problem. If you're concerned about rug rats, just keep it locked up in a cabinet you can buy or build.

Otherwise what is your primary concern?

Unless the ammo is tightly sealed, the fluctuating temps and humidity levels will degrade the powder and primers over time. Loaded ammo in a fire does not shoot the bullet out like in a gun, rather the brass case bursts like a firecracker. If you store it in heavy duty surplus ammo cans this will help contain the ammo bursting during a fire. A lockable fire cabinet used for paints and chemicals will further reduce the risk in a fire or little ones getting to it.
